Many faces of Finish nature

We also took part in  workshop in Finand in 2011 in august.

20people came from many EU countries to spent  beautifull 7days here in Kuusankoski in Finish nature. Our host were the Hiking Klub Kouvola Kussankoski.

 

The program was amazing! We had study the environment of this country and each day made a picture, which we evaluated and discussed each evening.

And here is what we studiet each day

  • The Forests in Finland, by Mr. Juha Rikala, Dr, Agriculture and Forestry, University of Helsinki

  • Working the photograph material of the day           Nordic walking on Kettumäki walking track

  • Visit at Repovesi National park,  

  • Information on the natural environment of Kymi Valley, walking to Lapinsalmi             hanging bridge

  • Cruise on the "Golden Route"

  • Atelier Pihkahovi, wooden sculptures 

  • Walk on a nature trail in Heisanharju - angling, lunch in the forest.  On the way we             will see examples of the use of forest.

  • Visit to Verla Museum (Unesco World Heritage) and surroundings, rock paintings.

  • UPM-Kymmene paper mill and excursion there

  • Presentation  Environmental issues within industry, Mr. Harri Jussila,

  • Visit to the Fishing Lodge of Zar Alexander III and to Sapokka Water Garden.

  • On the way back a stop at Valkmusa National Park (marsh area)

  • Leave for a summer cottage and had great time with  - sauna, swimming, nature trail, dinner    (local Finnish food)  and traditional finish musics and habits from this area
